About Jess
I am a queer and transgender man, a nature lover, partner, parent, and prefer to be surrounded by animals as much as possible. I grew up in the Midwest, spent years in the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently live outside Chicago with my family. In the past I have worked as a discrimination investigator, a forensic social worker for a county public defender’s office, and for an LGBTQ+ community center. I was raised in fundamental Evangelicalism and have since found joy and freedom in my gender, sexuality, identity, and in learning to know and trust myself. These things all inform my work as a therapist and my passion for partnering with others as they find their own healing, peace, and authentic self.
Outside of the office, I live on a small hobby farm where I raise dairy goats and chickens, as well as a quirky bunch of rescue animals. If we work together, you may meet Shiloh & Adam, two rescue pigeons with whom I share my office. I am also a teammate on a very enthusiastic (if not always successful) pub trivia team and a member of my city’s community choir.
